Hazardous Substances in e-products
Many hazardous substances are used in the manufacturing process of traditional e-products. When these products are discarded without proper disposal, these hazardous substances will pollute the environment and damage our health. Take the main component of the monitor for example, you’ll clearly know the possible hazardous substances in traditional e- products and BenQ’s efforts on reducing the use of these hazardous substances.

Design for Recyclability
When e-products are no longer used, more professional disposal approaches must be adopted. If these e-wastes are incinerated or buried, this merely leads to more ecological and environmental burdens. The best way to minimize the pollution is to extend the resource utilization of the products or materials by recycling, reuse, and energy recovery.
Considering the replacement of the older e-products tended to increase, BenQ improved the material recycling rate by easy-recycling design phase to reduce environmental impact.
Recycled Material
When a product is abandoned, most material of the components still can be recycled and re-process for use in other new products. Therefore, we can reduce the exploitation of natural resources and raw material inputs to achieve sustainable use of substances.
Although there are so many obstacles to overcome in order to use recycled plastics in electronic products, BenQ is still one after another using some proportion of recycled plastics in certain monitor products. BenQ also adopts more than 85% recycled paper material in packaging cartons of whole product line to reduce the virgin pulp from deforestation.

Eco-Friendly Ink
Refined product packaging and manuals, often provide information to consumers by complex ink printing. The current traditional ink uses large amounts of organic solvents to clean and dilute in the printing process, which not only cause high carbon emissions and waste, but also harm the health of the printing workers.
All of BenQ’s product packaging and manuals are printed with eco- friendly water-based or soy-based ink. The solvent of water-based ink is mainly water and made from organic pigments, and soy ink is made with soybean oil. Using these two inks can significantly reduce environmental pollution in the printing process. Waste paper is better deinking, and as a result of it, the recycling efficiency of recycled paper can be significantly improved.
